A Different Kind of Fairy Tale Review

Book Review Feb. 17th

A Different Kind of Fairy Tale

(Spring Towers #1)

by: Morgan Rayne

Blurb:

Stella and Alex have been best friends since Stella moved into Spring Towers three years ago. Alex reminded himself time and again Stella was just one of the guys. Until she needs an immediate boyfriend, when her ex shows up engaged to the woman he cheated on her with. He gladly steps in and hopes Stella will feel the sparks between them. Can their friendship survive their roles.

★★ 4 Stars

I really enjoyed this book. This was a very simple and easy read. Stella and Alex are so wary of ruining their friendship and thinking their feelings are one-sided that much of the book is them fighting their attraction. It's fun to be an outside viewer in their relationship because they work so well as friends and neighbors.

Awake at Dawn Review

Awake at Dawn (#2)

by: C.C. Hunter

★★  4 Stars

Blurb: From the moment Kylie Galen arrived at Shadow Falls Camp, she’s had one burning question: What am I? Surrounded by vampires, werewolves, shape-shifters, fairies and witches, Kylie longs to figure out her own supernatural identity…and what her burgeoning powers mean. And now she’ll need them more than ever, because she’s being haunted by a new spirit who insists that someone Kylie knows—and loves—will die before the end of the summer. If only she only knew who she was supposed to save. And how…

But giving Kylie the most trouble is her aching heart. Gorgeous werewolf Lucas left camp with another girl, but he’s still visiting Kylie in her dreams. And Derek, a sexy half Fae who’s always been there for her when she needed him, is pushing to get more serious—and growing impatient, especially when Lucas returns. Kylie knows she needs to decide between the boys, and it’s tearing her up inside.

Yet romance will have to wait, because something from the dark side of the supernatural world is hiding in Shadow Falls. It’s about to threaten everything she holds dear…and bring her closer to her destiny.

Awake at Dawn was a great read. Kylie continues to be an interesting character and I cannot help but eagerly await her finding out the truth of what she is.

“I suck at being human,” Kylie.

Untoucable Series Review

The Untouchable Series

Book 1-Untouchable

Book 2-Untraceable

Book 3-Unforgivable

by: Lindsay Delagair
 ★★★ 5 Stars

Ahhh!!!!! OMG, these books are amazing. Imagine the best soap opera ever mixed with the mafia/contract killers and you have Untouchable. It's been a few days since I read these and they are still with me. Lingering. Popping up at the rarest of moments and staying with me until I have either immense anger at certain plot points or want to die with the awesomeness of it all.

Book one was by far the best. I will say, for me at least, the books are extremely predictable. Not in a bad way. At some times the predictability makes it easier to take what's coming. I think what's so special about these books is how raw and real-life they are. Life sucks and this book just proves that. Granted, in a more far-fetched movie-like way.

Let Me Love You

(Spring Towers #2)

by : Morgan Rayne

Blurb:
Four years is a long time to keep a secret, but Lindsay Pierce has done just that. In book 2 of the Spring Towers Series, Lindsay fights to keep her dark past hidden, while one sexy fireman tries to convince her to take a chance on happiness.

Kyle has given up his playboy ways, in the hopes of finally finding love. His sights are set on one feisty redhead, but she is determined to stay far away from him. Knowing she has been hurt before, Kyle sets out to prove she can trust him and if he's lucky, she will let him love her the way she deserves.

 ★★ 4 Stars

This book was surprisingly much more exciting to read than A Different Kind of Fairy Tale. Kyle and Lindsay are so perfect for each-other and as she fights the attraction and emotion along the way, you can't help but get excited for the end.  Even with Kyle's man-whore ways, it's so easy to love him and want him to become a better man for Lindsay. And poor Lindsay has a lot to overcome, particularly if she wants to be with Kyle. #1 would be getting over his being a firefighter because of a horrific relationship she had before.

The Lonely Review

The Lonely

by: Tara Brown

★★   4 Stars

Blurb: Emalyn Spicer has lived with it for a long time. She thinks it goes back further than her memories do. She knows it goes back further than the OCD.

When she arrives at college, her OCD's and the lonely refuse to let her have her wish to be normal.

When she meets Sebastian and starts to fall for him, she lets herself believe it's possible to outrun the things chasing her from the past. But how to you get away from the things inside of you? How do you run from yourself?

Just as she gives up and succumbs to the lonely, the unthinkable happens. She finds herself once again trapped in the dark, once again held against her will.

This time she meets the lonely head on. In the darkest corners of her mind, she discovers there is more to her world than she ever imagined. She discovers that the lonely was there for her, protecting her from herself and her secrets.

Just WOW!!!! If you want your mind to be blown then read The Lonely. Holy crap, seriously this book is nuts but  in the greatest of ways.... I was wondering if I was crazy and needed therapy both while reading it and after. This is literally a book that you cannot put down, it will stay in the back of your mind and haunt you like a vengeful spirit. Think V for Vendetta meets Girl Interrupted.

Something More

by: Mia Castile

Blurb: All she wanted was a fresh start. Moving to Chicago for college, escaping her small town, Nyla finally felt she had it all. Then Jameson is suddenly everywhere, invading her life, school schedule, and dating her supervisor at the posh art gallery where she works. How can she survive her fresh start, when her high school bully is everywhere.... The only thing that scared him about going to college was the crushing fear that he wouldn’t see Nyla anymore. So after graduation, Jameson applied to Roosevelt College, her school, to try to make sense of why he felt that way. Hoping it would only take a semester to understand his strange attraction and why he tormented her during high school, instead he realized that there was something more about Nyla, and something more to the way he felt. Now he must prove to her that she feels the same way.
  ★★ 4 Stars

Something More was a beautiful was a beautiful road to true love; when your arch nemesis becomes the one person you can't live without and all that hate you've been feeling is really just love in disguise. We all had a nemesis in high school, maybe a boy that picked on you far too much. Well, Jameson is Nyla's bully. She finally feels free from the immature constraints of high school and as a college freshman she can become the person she's destined to be. Until Jameson pops back into her life, of course.

Hard to Love Review

Book Review Feb. 15th

Hard to Love

 ★★★ 3 Stars
Sypnosis: Cade takes cares of his sick younger sister by doing what he does best--cage fighting and starring in adult movies, his newest harebrained moneymaking scheme designed to pay for his sister’s growing medical bills. But when his latest gig finds him admitted to the ER, he can’t get the pretty little nurse who treated him out of his head, even though he knows she’s so far out of his league it should be illegal.

Alexa has been looking for ways to break out of her Goody Two-shoes image. When her friend suggests the outlandish idea of losing her virginity to the sexy and sure-to-be-skilled porn star, Alexa is mortified. When she tracks him down to give him a piece of her mind, she isn’t prepared for what she finds. Watching him care for his little sister tugs at her heart, and suddenly it’s no longer just about losing her virginity, but about helping Cade. Because Lord help her, she might actually be falling for a porn star…

Hard to Love by: Kendall Ryan

Sadly this book was just okay for me. Maybe I set my sights to high but I just couldn't get into the story and the two (Alexa and Cade) barely have a relationship at all.
