Meet Wes & July in Until July!
Until July is book one in the spin-off series: Until Her!

4 "Boom" Stars

When you meet your boom, your soul knows it, July and Wes are no different. July is a awesome heroine, ballsy and brazen like her mom November. This branch off from the Until series is no disappointment, once again Aurora Rose Reynolds is able to beautifully create a masterpiece of New Adult fiction, with a wonderfully written romance interspersed with danger, drama and hot hot sex…

If you’ve read the Until series, this continuation is a must.  Not only do many previous characters pop in and out, it’s wonderful to see our favorites, living their happily ever after and now being given the time to watch their own children find theirs. July is the daughter of Asher and November who we meet in Until November. Just like her mother, July doesn’t bow down to men, she rides by her own rules, literally. In fact on her motorcycle is where she first meets Wes, when she almost runs him off the road as he’s riding with his MC.
Immediately sparks fly and the book only continues to get better. July is a wonderful heroine, smart and dedicated to her  job as a vet. When abused half dead dogs are dropped off at her veterinary clinic barely hanging on to life, she decides to go undercover. There were many laugh out load moments, July and even Wes are not only perfect for each other, their fun and they embrace that. No stale boring romance here folks!

As this is July’s book most of the story is focused on her and Wes, yet there’s many reappearances by old characters and many more appearances by all the previous characters children now grown up. I imagine this series could go on for quite awhile the way everyone reproduced and I’m not complaining one bit.

Wes is a typical ex-military man now starting a bike club with his friends. Protecting July and his club is all that matters to him. When either is threatened, nothing will stand in his way. Though Wes is in the club, this is not an MC romance in anyway, and there is no outlaw stuff happening here. Well not too much…..

As always Ms. Reynolds did not disappoint and Until July was another great read. If you’re just starting the series, this can be read as a stand-alone-any of the series can-but it will make you much happier to start from square one, I promise. Until July was a great start to this new branch off and I can’t wait for more. The brief peak into Jax and what will hopefully be his story next, leaves us at the end with really nothing more than a  look and I’m already anxious for more!!!

Excerpt:  Until July

I sit up when I see a few bikes in the distance. I don’t recognize their patches, but that doesn’t surprise me. Tennessee has a huge MC community, and there are always new clubs popping up all over the state. I slow down as I close the distance between us.
The closer I get, the more details I can make out. The group of about five bikes in front of me are all Harleys, all ranging in colors from almost purple to black. None of the men are wearing helmets, which is the complete opposite of me, who is covered from head to toe in black leather. Even my helmet is all black, with leather piping.
I take the men in, noticing they are all well-built, their leather cuts displaying a large eagle, with its wings spread wide like it’s midflight. The talons of the bird are carrying a long stem rose, with petals falling off it onto their club name, The Broken Eagles. I begin to speed up and pass them one by one, thankful for the security of my helmet, the black visor making it impossible to see me.
I keep my head straight until the last guy, the one who is at the front of the group, catches my attention. From the back, his hair is the first thing I notice. It’s slightly long on top and buzzed on the sides. My eyes move to the expanse of his back, the wide set of his shoulders, and the tan skin covering his lean muscles. His bike is low to the ground, and the bars are in front of him in a way that he has to stretch his arms straight out, causing every muscle to flex and move, making it look like the tattoos are alive and dancing.
My eyes skim farther down over his chest, which is covered in a white tank top tucked into a pair of light jeans, and around his waist is a black belt with a large silver buckle. I continue to pass him, my eyes shifting from the road to him and back again. This time when I look over, his head is turned towards me, and if I didn’t know any better, I would have swear he is looking directly into my soul.
“Holy shit,” I whisper, taking in his hair, the set of his jaw that is covered in days of stubble, and a pair of light eyes I can’t quite make out through the tint of my helmet. He is seriously hot, but equally scary-looking. I look from him back to the road. It must not have been even a second, but when my eyes go to the asphalt in front of me, I see a bird that is trying to make its way across the road, its wing hanging in an awkward position. I swerve to the right just in time to miss the poor animal.
“What the fuck?” I hear roared, and I look over my shoulder at the man who is now coming up quick on my right side. I yell an apology over the sound of my engine and his pipes. Do a quick wave and take off, lowering my body and pulling back the throttle, wanting to get away from them. Dude looks seriously pissed off, and even though I hate leaving the bird behind without helping it, I would like to live to see my next birthday.
I think I’m in the clear, but then the sound of pipes fills my ears, and I don’t even know how it happens, but they all catch up with me, surrounding my bike. I can’t make out what they’re saying, but my stomach starts to roll at the sound of their voices. I feel my side to make sure I have the Taser my dad insisted I carry.
I see a clearing and pull my bike off to the side of the road. I know this is probably one of the stupidest things I have ever done, but if they keep chasing me like they have been, we could all end up seriously hurt. I pull over and don’t even shut down my bike. I just lower my kickstand as my heart, which was already beating hard, begins to bang violently against my ribcage as they surround me.
“What the fuck is wrong with you?” the guy who was at the head of the group asks, stepping in front of my bike.
I shake my head as my words get lodged in my throat.
He pulls me off my bike, and the men who are with him begin yelling obscenities as well.
“Sorry,” I croak out, and I don’t even know if he hears me as his hand goes to the collar of my leather jacket, where he shakes me hard. My hand accidently presses down on the button that ignites the Taser. The loud crack fills the air, and his eyes go wide then he falls to the ground, and I fall on my ass and crabwalk backwards. I look up when I hit something, only to meet the eyes of another man, who looks pissed.
“Get up,” he growls, picking me up. My feet flail under me as I’m lifted off the ground with my hands restrained behind my back.
“Hold him still,” the guy who I had tasered growls in front of me as I try to get away from the anger I feel coming off him. His hands go to my head and he rips my helmet off, causing my hair to float down around me.
Complete silence descends. I swear no one even takes a breath.

An obligation is a course of action that someone is required to take, whether legal or moral.

Kai has been watching Myla from afar since he took over the family business from his father and inherited the responsibility of keeping her safe. When word gets back to Kai that Myla is not only in danger, but that his assets are being compromised, he immediately jumps into action and does the only thing that can be done at the time by marrying her.

Excerpt
I feel the sun on my closed eyelids and something sharp poking me in the face. Moving my hand, trying to get away from the pain, I whimper when it scrapes against my cheek. I lift my head and run my fingers along the side of my face, feeling wetness. Opening my eyes to see a light smear of blood on my fingers. I flip my hand over, and then I see the gaudy ring that is now taking up residence on my ring finger.
“Great,” I whisper, closing my eyes and laying my head down again.
I prayed earlier, before I went to sleep, that when I woke up, the ring I’m wearing now and the man who put it there would be nothing but a bad dream. No such luck. I roll over and take a shaky breath, wanting to close my eyes for a few more seconds, wishing I could just sleep until everything was back to normal.

3.5 Stars

After reading and loving the Until Series by Aurora Rose Reynolds I guess I always expect her new books to be equally amazing. Unfortunately this new Underground series has yet to really wow me. When Obligation begins we meet a young Myla who is unwillingly being sent away by her parents. As a young child Kai promised to always take care of his girl. Years later Kai has the chance to take up on his promise and his best choice is to marry her. Told between short alternating time lines we learn more about Myla’s past, one she is still unsure about.
When the ‘marriage’ begins to become more than fiction, Myla decides she wants all or nothing. Kai is more than happy to oblige Myla, but when her past comes back to haunt her Kai must become both husband and protector.
Parts of the story are left out such as the two agreeing to the fake marriage. For someone reading this as a standalone and not in conjunction with the series may be a little confused at times. Even having read all the books myself, certain points were easily forgotten and not retold for readers so it was a bit disappointing and disconnecting. For many readers it would be ideal to read or even re-read Assumption prior to Obligation in order to fully understand Kai’s book. Not to mention how fast paced everything is, it’s hard to take a breath. From the beginning of the story to the end everything felt rushed even the sex scenes. As a reader I wanted to tone down the drama and just give the characters a chance to breathe and take a breath. Unfortunately with the danger surrounding them, Kai and Myla’s relationship is rushed even more ultimately pushing them together.
Overall this was another good addition to the Underground series; however, it’s not my favorite. As always I will continue to read and auto-buy anything from this author and keep my fingers crossed that the next book will feel more complete and less lacking for standalone readers or those who don’t remember every detail from the previous book.   Fans of Aurora Rose Reynolds may not find there favorite book with Obligation but they certainly won’t be disappointed either. Kai is another over the top Alpha with way too many protective qualities but can still melt your panties with a few words.
