New from Lexi Ryan

Winter is about to get a whole lot warmer!

AVAILABLE NOW!

*SYNOPSIS*

After years of placing the wrong bets, all Aubree Baxter ever wanted was someone to take a chance on her. More specifically, she wants golden boy Kennedy Hale, her good friend and unrequited crush. After a seduction attempt gone terribly wrong, she knows pursuing anything more than friendship with Kennedy means sure heartbreak, but the chemistry between them has sizzled for years and won't be denied.

Sometimes in love, it has to be ALL OR NOTHING.

*EXCERPT*

She’d dropped the towel. I’d baited her, and she’d taken it. I didn’t think my heart would ever recover from that moment. Her ass had just enough jiggle to it, and even though she’d kept her back to me as she pulled on her clothes, I got a glimpse of her bare breasts. They were small—it was something she always joked about—but they were perfect. She was perfect.

For years, I had denied myself my feelings for Bree, but tonight I was done denying. Blame it on the whiskey. Blame it on the hurt in her eyes when she’d accused me of not noticing she was a woman. Blame it on the sexy tattoo on her ass that made my mouth water from wanting to bite it so badly.

She stood stock-still as once more I traced the vine up her spine and around her ribcage. I could see the goose bumps rising on her skin, and it was more instinct than seduction that had me leaning forward and blowing against her spine. Her body shuddered toward me, and just like that, my mouth was on her, her skin warm under my lips.

   “Kennedy,” she murmured.

I loved hearing my name on her lips. Bree saying my name, arousal making her breath come harder. I snaked my hand around the front of her body, following the path of the vine. She released her shirt and braced herself on the edge of the bed, bending slightly at her hips.

A groan slipped from my lips, and I nipped at the base of her spine.

I moved my hand slowly, wanting to memorize every inch of her soft skin. We were doing this. For better or worse, I was touching Bree, making her pant. The idea was equal parts exhilarating and terrifying.

Author Bio

Devon Hartford spent most of his life in Southern California, frequenting many of the locations in Fearless. Devon also paints. His background in the arts was the inspiration for this book.

Interview with Devon
What made you start writing? Were you an English major or just a fellow reading junkie?

I was not a big reader as a kid. It wasn’t until I discovered A Spell for Chameleon by Piers Anthony that I actually enjoyed reading for the first time. I instantly wanted to devour as many Xanth books as I could swallow. His stories had romance, fantasy, and magic. They took me to faraway, exotic locations that I dreamed of visiting. Not long after that, I began dabbling with writing stories of my own. Clunky at first and uncertain, my writing came in fits and starts. Much of what I wrote early on was never finished. I was not an English major, but I did take a few creative writing classes along the way. The assignments for these classes led to my first completed short stories. When a filmmaker friend turned me onto Syd Field’s well-known screenwriting book Screenplay, it showed me how to think about longer stories. Syd Field did a wonderful job of breaking film structure down into a visual form, highlighting the basic fact that every story should have rising action with a beginning, middle, and end. Later, I came across Plot & Structure by James Scott Bell, which I highly recommend to aspiring writers.  It takes the visual approach in Screenplay and tailors the thought process to novelists. If you are a visual person like me, both books are invaluable. Your writing readers can also search online for articles describing the W plot, a newer version of the same general ideas. Author Mary Carroll Moore has a great video about W plotting on Youtube.

What made you write a romance, I'm sure many people are wondering, seeing as you’re a guy and all?

When I started reading some of the New Adult novels that have come out in the past year, I recognized in many of them a story that I was already telling in some of my early work. Namely, damaged characters who are avoiding the pain from their pasts and are forced by circumstance to confront it; in so doing, the characters find redemption and heal themselves. I think this is a universal theme in many films, books, and TV shows. The other factor was recognizing that I could play around with the college setting. I wanted to explore the fantasy that I’m sure many of us have had, that college would be the place where we meet our one true love. So I went about crafting the most thrilling college romance story I could imagine.

I noticed Fearless is part of a series, I need to know, are there any cliffhangers? And how many books will there be in the series?

Fearless ends with a soft cliffhanger. I wrapped up some of the main issues that coursed through the pages of the book, but left some things unaddressed. Nobody is hanging in life-or-death jeopardy, but there is a lot of uncertainty. For Samantha, the young heroine in Fearless, there are a number of brewing conflicts that are hinted at, but won’t erupt in full volcanic force until book 2, Reckless. In Book 3, Painless, I will wrap everything up with a neat bow.

Would you consider Fearless part of the New Adult genre?

Definitely. It’s intended for young people at that age (or older readers who want to relive that age) when they are officially in control of their own lives for the first time, but struggle with the immensity of holding the reins. It’s a time of infinite possibility, and for some, seemingly infinite self-doubt and uncertainty. Will Samantha buckle down and pursue the Accounting major like her parents want? Or will she rebel and chase after an Art degree instead? I also delve into the blossoming sexuality that most people experience at this time in their lives. As many of us know, it doesn’t always unfold smoothly or even romantically the first time. I wanted my novel to take the reader through the most exciting, fulfilling, and comfortable initiation into the world of physical love with another human being that I could depict.

How do you feel Fearless compares to popular novels like Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire and other authors work like Abbi Glines and Colleen Hoover whom are all missing that Y chromosome you possess?

I chose to write Fearless from the heroine Samantha’s point of view. I worked very hard to make sure that I had what I considered an authentic nineteen-year-old girl’s internal voice, and that her behavior was believably female and realistic for her age. In that respect, I hope my Y chromosome will not be noticed at all! :-) Except, of course, when it comes to the actions and dialogue of the hero and other male characters. :-D

Last but not least, tell readers why they NEED to read Fearless...

If you have ever felt like you were living the wrong life, and dreamed of trying something more risky, adventurous, and fulfilling, but were afraid to try, and thought partaking in such a journey with the perfect guy would make it even better, then you NEED to read Fearless. Especially if you ever dreamed of being an artist. My love of drawing, painting, and the world of art is woven throughout Fearless.

Every Rose Feature/Spotlight/Giveaway & Review

Title: Every Rose
Author: Lynetta Halat

Blurb ~What do you do when you realize you were foolish enough to throw away true, unconditional love?

Lorraina Dabney turns her back on her creativity and tumultuous upbringing to embark on a college career that will lead her to law school and to becoming what she values most in life—a controlled, powerful, respected woman. When she stumbles upon her childhood friend's artwork, she feels inspired to reconnect with him and her former self.  This onslaught of emotion will send Lorraina into a tale-spin to figure out exactly why she abandoned all that she was, all that she could've been.

Coming from his own chaotic upbringing, Michael falls quickly and deeply in love with Lorraina at a tender age. Even her rejection can't stand in the way of his obsession. When she starts to date other boys, however, Michael finally relents, causing him to spiral further into a world filled with violence, drugs, alcohol, and women. Realizing his lifestyle will only lead to his further estrangement from Lorraina, Michael sets about to turn himself around before going to get his girl.
Michael Bang will have Lorraina questioning everything.

MY REVIEW
It is literally almost impossible for me to write this review. Why?? Considering it’s been a few days since I read Every Rose, one would think I’d have moved on. Well, you thought wrong. Every Rose is so amazing there are not enough adjectives to cover it’s amazingness in the dictionary. Every Rose is about rediscovering an old friend and an old romance and realizing what you thought you never wanted is exactly what you want and need.
“Even the most beautiful flower, the rose, has the thorn that makes it imperfect.”-Michael
Lorraina (heroine and narrator) has a rocky childhood in which she met Michael, whom claimed at 15 that she would be his wife. All through school, Lorraina spurns Michael’s advances and instead calls him her best friend. Ten years later, Lorraina is ready to take it back and let Michael in now realizing he is and always has been her one true love and the one thing she needs in her life.
The beginning of the story is ingenious because as Lorraina journals memories of her and Michael’s past, we get to see the beginning of them from their introduction to Michael’s HUGE crush. In ways Michael is like the crush we all had in school, only Michael is determined that no matter how long it takes Lorraina will be his.
“I’ve always known that I loved Michael, but I’d managed to convince myself that it was a friendly, or even brotherly, love. The feelings that are threatening to consume me now are anything but platonic.“-Lorraina
Michael is the best and now my favorite book boyfriend ever. The best way to describe him is a reformed bad-boy who still sports tattoos, biker boots, has some anger issues but can serenade you till your clothes fall off.
I don’t want to say any more about it, in fact I refuse, because everyone needs to read Every Rose. It is a beautiful love story that will literally bring you to tears and make your heart smile. There were things that shocked me especially when it came to Michael, his beliefs and life but even more so was the connection these two shared even after spending ten years apart. In all that time Michael held out hope and tried to make himself a person worthy of his Lorraina. Let’s take an Awwww moment… Even Lorraina was a joy of a character because there’s at least one if not more endearing qualities everyone can relate to and once she decided Michael is what and who she wants, she lets nothing and no one stand in her way. Can’t fault her for that, trust me, we all need a little Michael in our lives…..
*Beware minor spoiler below*
On a side note, there is something that happens in this book that will literally make you feel like your life is over. Somehow though (at least for me) I was able to keep going. Maybe it was the remarkable writing style of Lynetta Halat or perhaps just Lorraina herself, but somehow it works. I won’t admit to not wanting to throw things at first and shove my face into a pillow to sob but at the end of the day I could not discount how amazing every page in this book was and how happy, no, delighted I am to have read it.

Author Bio
For as long as she can remember, Lynetta Halat has lived to read and has written countless stories and plays since she was a young girl. A teacher by day and an avid reader and closet writer by night, she has always dreamt of penning books that people could connect with and remember; and her first novel, Every Rose, is the perfect catalyst to launch her into the world of publishing. Her love of the English language prompted her to pursue a master's degree in English from Old Dominion University in Virginia. A self-proclaimed "Coast Girl," she lives in Mississippi with her adorable husband, two amazing sons, and two loveable dogs. She is currently at work on her second book.

EXCERPT
Michael shakes his head and grins at me. I fight the sudden urge to run my hands through that silky midnight hair of his. “Always so quick to label and categorize.  I guess that’s what will make you an excellent attorney. Assess. Label. Categorize. Add up the W’s. ” He leans in a little and whispers, “How about we just go with the flow? See where it leads us. Label later?” He raises his brows, offering my type-A dominant personality a direct challenge.

Caution to the wind, very atypical for me, I reply, “OK. I’m up for it.” Challenge accepted. “You?” Challenge returned.

“You bet, Lorraina,” he rasps softly.

He leans into my door and places his hands on top of mine. I’m suddenly quite anxious and ever so grateful for the door between us. My hands get clammy and my heart races. Blood races and pounds in my ears, making me feel very much awake now. One hand moves up to brush my hair from my forehead and moves down feather light until his knuckles brush across my cheekbone and lips. He pulls his thumb slowly across my lips. It’s excruciating. It’s exquisite.

Both of his hands come forward to frame my face gently, and he pulls me in for a kiss. A too quick kiss. It’s over before I realize it’s even begun. He gives me a half smile and turns and walks away.
“Michael!” My voice barely sounds human. More animal in nature. It’s raw with ache.

He turns and takes two long strides back to me. This time when he grasps my head it’s anything but gentle. He pulls my lip in and nudges my lips open with his. All rational thought escapes me. I mirror his grasp and enjoy the fullness I feel with him in my mouth. I give as good as I get. This kiss is nothing like our two before. I savor it.

When he turns to walk away, I release a long pent up breath. If he would’ve looked back, he would’ve seen that I was the one on my knees now.

Kindle Blog Hop & Giveaway

Show Your Support Kindle Giveaway!!

Thanks everyone, for stop by today to show your support and love for Bloggers and authors! My support will come with me sharing some of my favorite reads and authors with you..

Some things you should know about me..
  • I LOVE Angsty, motorcycle driving, tattooed, Hot bad-boys with alpha/hero complexes...
Example:

  • I LOVE romance, New Adult, suspense, BDSM(sometimes the dirtier the better) etc... and I know it's cliche but I'm a sucker for a girl in need of rescue....
  • I LOVE Authors who think outside the box. The less predictable to the better.
  • I am addicted (more like fused) to my Kindle and would probably die without it. One-clicking is my New-Age girly shoe addiction even though my credit does not approve.
  • I LOVE blogging, roaming Goodreads, stalking author sites and making friends with fellow book-A-holics. Who needs a life when books provide the perfect alternative LOL...
  • I HATE, despise, loathe and go into a murderous rage when confronted by a cliff-hanger, especially the one's that come out of nowhere.. Authors, perhaps try warning us ahead of time when using this tactic or maybe not releasing the next novel more than a few months away.... It's torturous.
  •  Lastly, I just plain ol' love to read. My favirote part of the day is when I can plant myself on the couch with my kindle/book in hand and let the world slip away... Right now I'm most looking forward to the release of Origin (Lux #4) by Jennifer Armentrout and Scare Crow (Crow's Row #2) by Julie Hockley...
So without further ado, here are SOME of my favorite reads ever, books I will continue to and have read numerous times.. Covers will link you to Goodreads page so you can add away.
