Contemporary Romance
Release Date: August 19,

Synopsis:
Marcos
Rivera is a fighter. A gang member. Someone who has seen the dark side of
humankind and survived. He has lost family and gained enemies. He has stolen
cars and destroyed hearts, stripping one for money and the other for pleasure.
His past is haunted and his future is bleak.
Until
her.
Katie
Foster is a high school history teacher. Smart, strong, and sexy. She is a
woman Marcos shouldn’t want. Shouldn’t touch. Shouldn’t love. He met her in
Garnet, a backwards, hick town that’s the last place in the world he wants to
be, but he finds himself going back for a taste of the forbidden.
Katie
represents all that is good in the world, and Marcos knows he’s nothing but
trouble for her perfect life. He fights and he screws. He commits crimes and he
breaks the rules. He will never change and he will never escape his gang
lifestyle.
Or
can he?
What
happens when two different people from two very different walks of life risk it
all by giving into the passion that threatens to consume both of them? Can a
woman who only knows how to play it safe give her heart to a man who lives hard
and loves harder?
Will
she survive The Viper?
A
freckle faced, redhead born and raised in Hawaii, Kele Moon has always been a
bit of a sore thumb and has come to enjoy the novelty of it. She thrives off
pushing the envelope and finding ways to make the impossible work in her story
telling. With a mad passion for romance, she adores the art of falling in love.
The only rules she believes in is that, in love there are no rules and true
love knows no bounds.
So
obsessed is she with the beauty of romance and the novelty of creating it she’s
lost in her own wonder world most of the time. Thankfully she married her own
dark, handsome, brooding hero who had infinite patience for her airy ways and
attempts to keep her grounded. When she leaves her keys in the refrigerator or
her cell phone in the oven he’s usually there to save her from herself. The two
of them now reside in Florida with their three beautiful children who make
their lives both fun and challenging in equal parts–They wouldn’t have it any
other way.
My Review~4 Stars
August 15. 2014
Kele Moon is a phenomenal writer who doesn’t shy away from
writing about the darker aspects of life. The Viper is no
excerption and deals with something that I’ve been waiting for and looking for
in books for awhile. The biker boys many
of us are guilty of fawning over have nothing on Los Corrados (apologies if I
got the gang wrong). In The Viper our main character is a
too hot Puerto Rican from the wrong side of the tracks in Miami and carries the
emotional and physical scars to prove it. Once in a gang, always in a gang but
that doesn’t stop a scorching romance from shaking things up.
Marcos is the complete opposite of Katie. So opposite in
fact, the two would probably never have reason to speak or even look the other
in the eye if it wasn’t for a car accident literally crashing them together.
The accident may be the cause of much pain but for Katie it gives her the push
her life needs and she realizes living dangerously is something she’s never
done and doesn’t want to live any other way. Katie doesn’t get the attraction.
Sure Marcos is hot but he’s from a gang and just got out of jail, he lives in
Miami and she’s a gringa, who teaches high school history school no less.
Sparks are always flying when these two are together. After
the initial accident some time passes by and the majority of the story between
the characters happens in a very short time span fleshed out when they meet
again. Considering the scare factor of Marcos being in a gang I really expected
more violence or even fighting especially at the climax but everything sort of
gets smoothed over and the past serves more in reflecting violence. I wouldn’t
say the story wasn’t hardcore or even nail biting, I just wanted a more inside
look into Marcos’s gang-life.
Overall I was once again amazed and awed by the talent of
Kele Moon. This series is the first of many more great and jaw-dropping reads,
it’s easy to tell. I’m really hoping Chuito’s book is next. The series is new
but does feature characters from the Battered Hearts series.
It can be read as a stand-alone and reader’s need not read Battered
Hearts to understand but they are great books and I highly recommend
at least adding them to you T-B-R.
