Beck is no Axel, but he sure is a hot one. We all knew since
Axel that Beck and Dee’s story would be an emotionally
turbulent journey and that was certainly the case. Loved this story and still
can’t wait for more in the series.
Beck and Dee are great friends. At times they are friends
with benefits, mostly because Dee feels this is all she can give to Beck. She
is one of the most relationship-resistant females I have ever read about. And I
mean come on, it’s Beck, bad-ass alpha with a heart of gold who would sell his
soul to Satan just to help her. But Dee just can’t see the light if you will,
she continually pushes Beck away. But Beck doesn’t give up. When her own
friends don’t realize the constant pain she is in and has been in, he steps up
and takes over. He can’t bear to see her hurting and so for months these two
play a game of back and forth all the while breaking Beck’s heart since all he
wants his to call Dee his, now and forever.
The road to happiness is none too easy for Dee and Beck. Dee
is suffering from her loveless childhood and is afraid that letting Beck in
will only leave her brokenhearted. She can’t fathom that Beck could care about
her so much let alone love her to the depths of his soul. But boy does he. Beck
would do anything for Dee and I especially loved when he went mental on her
friends for being so deluded in their own lives to truly pay attention to Dee.
He’s a true softie with a badass inner shell, yum.
This series is pure awesome-sauce. I mean what’s hotter than
a buff, alpha male, working security and devoting their lives to loving their
women. They seem to suddenly go from ManWhores USA to doting boyfriends with
obsessively possessive tendencies.
There’s a lot that happens in Beck. There’s good and then
there is a scene that has the potential to rip your soul out so prepare
yourself. I don’t know why or how but I sort of expected something like this to
happen and don’t shoot me dead if you’ve read it, but I for some reason did not
find myself too broken up. Don’t get me wrong, the characters and story have to
change dramatically to accommodate this moment but it just didn’t hit me like I
would have thought.
Beck was everything I thought it would be: sweet, loving,
overwhelming and delicious. I can’t wait for more from this series, Harper
Sloan is clearly a writing genius. She’s taken her love of reading and turned
it into something that I know many fellow book lovers appreciate. I cannot wait
for the next book in the series and I can only hope that these stories never
end. And, well, I want more Sway, he’s just too much with all his glitter and
gold. The way he chases down these alpha men is something I wish I could see in
person, well aside from my own Corps Security alpha that is….

Harper lives in small town Georgia just a short drive from her hometown of Peachtree City. She (and her 3 daughters) enjoy ruling the house they dubbed 'Estrogen Ocean', much to her husband’s chagrin. Harper has a borderline unhealthy obsession with books; you can almost ALWAYS find her with her ereader attached. As an ex-reviewer and blogger, Harper's passion for reading runs deep. It wasn't until 'Axel' decided to take up residence that she realized her true calling.
She started using writing as a way to unwind when the house went to sleep at night; and with a house full of crazy it was the perfect way to just relax. It didn't take long before a head full of very demanding alphas would stop at nothing to have their story told.
