5 Stars

Blurb ~ Fate hasn’t always been friends with Isabelle West. In fact, fate has been a downright bitch.

Isabelle has learned the hard way how hard life can be when fate isn’t by your side. It can hand you dreams on silver platters, but it can snatch them right back and hand you nightmares. One thing Isabelle knew for sure fate was consistent with was taking away everything she ever loved.

For the last two years Isabelle has been slowly clearing the clouds of her past. Happiness is finally on the horizon. She has a thriving business, great friends, and her life back. All she has to do is jump over the last hurdle…her ex-husband.

When problems start causing her to fear her new life, and memories that are better left forgotten start rushing to the surface the last thing she needs is a ghost from her past to come knocking on her door.

Axel never thought he would look into the eyes of Isabelle West again, and he wasn’t sure he wanted to now. He’s carried his anger for so long he isn’t sure he can just turn it off, but when he is faced with protecting her and an unexpected desire to have her again, life gets a little more complicated.

How will Axel and Isabelle deal when all their cards are put on the table and everything they thought was true blows up in their faces?

My Review
So now I finally know what all the fuss is about. I absolutely to die-for loved this book. Don’t even get me started on my intense love and lust for Axel, it’s probably illegal.

For far too long Isabelle is stuck in an abusive relationship. Like many of its kind, everything started out great and there was a time where she may have even loved her husband. That time is no more. Her salvation comes when she thinks of Axel, her first love. The one who got away. Isabelle never thinks he’s alive, since he never came back for her, so she moved on. Now that she finally got the courage to leave her husband with the help of her friends and Cage, she never expects Axel to be the one assigned to protect her.

There’s so much misinformation flying around, Axel  and Isabelle have a lot to work through, particularly in regards to their past. But as they say time heals all wounds and these long lost lovers have a lot of time to make up for.

The chemistry is off the charts as soon as these two are reunited. Sparks fly and hormones skyrocket through the roof, but both Axel and Isabelle are stubborn characters. Isabelle is a mixture of a damaged woman whose no longer willing to take crap from a man. Her husband or even Axel, so he has his work cut out for him for sure.

There’s still an air of suspense in regards to her husband. Her fear feeds readers and it just makes Axel more delectable as you can’t wait for him to save the day. As far as for his character he was a mixture of badass and scorned lover. Thinking he was betrayed by Isabelle he can be a bit abrasive at times but under his tough exterior he’s nothing but a muscled and bonefide piece of man-meat. Trust me, you will want to eat him up.

At times parts of the plot were bordering on common but along with all the other original plot pieces it all worked seamlessly for me. Or maybe it was just my overly crazed appreciation for Axel. As far as this being a the first novel from Harper Sloan, I am beyond impressed. You can definitely feel her love of books through the writing. I can honestly say if my copy of Axel was a paperback, it would be dog-eared within a few months because I know I’ll be doing a re-read again, it was that good.

Overall, this story had it all. Long lost lovers reunited, both carrying scars and an off the charts passion that can’t be denied. Axel is hot and the storyline is addictive. Considering all the 5 Star reviews, I know many people are in agreement about Axel’s awesomeness. I would certainly recommend this and be warned, your list of book-boyfriends will grow. Axel  will slowly work his way to the top of your favorites, like a cherry topping a sundae. Nothing better!!!

HAPPY READING!!!
