Addicted to New Adult

So the folks over at New Leaf Literary are launching a new promotion "Addicted to New Adult." There is also a can't miss giveaway with tons of prizes below so don't forget to enter...

If you're interested in helping just make a post about why and how you fell in love with New Adult. To show my appreciation for New Adult I will list a few of the books that first captured my attention last year. I'll admit since then, this genre has had me hooked.

So last year I was still on my Adult Romance kick interspersed with some YA. I'm a suspense junkie so romantic suspense novels are like my bread and butter. Like any normal weekend, rather than go out, I would browse for books on Amazon with my kindle. I kept seeing all these recommendations for books I had never heard of. (Most of us haven't as many New Adult authors are also Indie authors, thus publish their work themselves). I'll admit I was hesitant at first to buy some of these books. I mean they had barely any reviews, decent prices but carried an air of unfamiliarity. Alas, I could not resist the prices and intriguing blurbs. Eventually within a week my kindle was jam packed full of college-aged reading. Perfect for me since I just graduated. (Not to mention how full my kindle remains to be and continues to grow... Damn T-B-R list is more like a pipe dream!!) Anyways my First Ever New Adult novel were two by M. Leighton: Down to You and Fragile. Now if you've read anything by M. Leighton, you know how amazing her writing is. Considering how frustrated I was with the cliff-hanger ending of Down to You, I immediately jumped into her less known more YA novel Fragile and I swear it's still one of the sweetest stories I've ever read. This was around November of 2012 and I'll admit I am 100% addicted to New Adult and loving every minute.

From there nothing could stop my one-click finger from adding more and more interesting books. Honestly, since then I've practically read and bought nothing but New Adult. This is something not only to be proud of but also relieved because I know my kindle is jam-packed full of goodies because many New Adult Authors have surpassed my expectations and delivered A+reading that not only is relate-able but just plain AWESOME!!!

Here's some more I read last year and HIGHLY recommend:

Why I love it.....
One thing that is really great about NA is there's not really many set boundaries. I mean sure NA is supposed to be more college aged, but that's not always the case. Take Fallen Crest High by Tijan for example, as the title states the characters are still in high-school. Though that may be the case, the entire book is definitely more NA based. The drama, romance and even characters are anything but childish. New Adult in this case allows the characters to be in high school but live adult lives if that makes sense.

New Adult gives many of us a new genre to connect with. It's rather odd that it's taken this long over the years for college aged books to become so popularized and receive their own genre. I mean it goes from Childrens--> YA ---> Adult Fiction and Romance with no group in between. Well now New Adult bridges that divide and in a way connects all the categories (at least from what I've seen in some books.)

Why you should love it too...
I think for this portion I will use pictures to best describe the feeling of NA. Enjoy and feel free to comment with why you love New Adult and how you came to love it.
New Adult allows us to have our Naughty Raunchy Sex Scenes I mean Romantic moments without X-Rated warning labels or YA limitations...

Not to mention all the HoTT, often angsty bad-boys that are NOT jail-bait.. Trust me, it's a PLUS.

And it helps that...
Most characters in a New Adult novel set out to accomplish something: college, finding themselves, working etc... Something that most readers can either relate to or admire...
The authors of New Adult are often Indie Authors and from what I've noticed they are the best EVER!! They interact more with fans and are more appreciative when someone reads there novel.  (Plus they have killer SALES and FREEBIES so often, my bank account is often crying!!)
Ever since I've started reading New Adult, I've made more book friends than I ever thought possible. From places like Good-reads, Facebook to my local library, New Adult bridges gaps and has started a book craze I am delighted to be a part of...

Now I have found a group of people who won't judge me when a book makes me cry or the cliff-hanger makes me pull my hair out!!! When there's a new release I have someone to jump up and down with and at the end of the day we are all connected...

And Remember....
So My Advice to you is...
Now go stop wasting time and Read. We only live so long and there is only so many books we can read... Enjoy lol, I know I will!!!!

KEEP on loving New Adult and feel free to share your appreciation in a comment below!!!
