He can’t change the scars on her body…
but fate will give him a second chance to mend the scars he put on her heart.
Riley Sullivan and the Ex Ops Team are headed to Miami undercover… as bikers. Following up a lead, the men will perform their investigation acting as members of the Regulators Motorcycle Club with the club’s permission. Surrounded by hardcore bikers and investigating missing strippers, Riley finds the last person he ever expected to see again—his ex-wife.
Kara Sullivan left the man she loved after a tragic accident cost them their unborn son. After years of therapy, she’s come to grips with the loss and has re-emerged from the pain a brand new person. That doesn’t mean she’s ready to face the man who inadvertently broke her heart, and who she’s hurt in return.
Riley has never stopped loving her and he never will. He’s ready to fix their marriage and move on with their lives, however Kara’s reluctance to renew their relationship isn’t their only problem. Danger lurks just around the corner… and there’s a chance she could disappear permanently.

4 ‘Love Will Keep Us Together’ Stars
Stripping Her Defenses was a pleasant surprise. I won’t lie, the blurb hooked me and so did the opening. The book opens with Riley and Kara having been married for a few years. However since being high school sweethearts things have changed between them. Riley escapes the conflicting emotions at home by accepting as many ‘missions’ as he can, leaving Kara home wondering what to do to stop the bridge growing wider between them and their happy marriage. Although we don’t get to see the blossoming love between the characters these chapters of their downfall is crucial to understand each character and I really enjoyed the inside look.
Unfortunately Kara who is pregnant, is involved in a horrible accident after the two fight and Riley leaves again on another unnecessary mission. The bridge between them has separated them to the point where Kara sees no decision but to leave after feeling she was abandoned and furthermore losing her baby.
When Riley finally comes home he finally realizes all the mistakes they both made but with his wife missing, hearing they lost their child and her refusing to see him whilst serving him divorce papers, Riley’s heart is irrevocably broken.
Years pass and Riley still hasn’t given up hope that Kara will return though he’s not holding his breath. His Ex Ops team is set to undercover in a Florida motorcycle gang in hopes to discover the person or ‘persons’ responsible for girls going missing and turning up dead. The last thing Riley expects is his once reserved wife, dancing, let alone taking her clothes off in a room of screaming men.
Sparks immediately fly as do panties and angry words. Throw in some exhibition, car sex, dangerous characters and a long awaited reunion and that sums up the ending of this book. The addition of the MC was very well written and not the focus of the story which I think helped me enjoy it more because it gave a different peek inside. I only hope that some of the bikers get their own books.
This is book two in the series and though I don’t feel like I missed anything by having not read the first, I am certainly planning on reading it ASAP. This is a very promising series and for lovers of romance, suspense and smokin’ hot sex, you won’t be disappointed.
