Nearly Mended Release Blitz with Review and Giveaway

Nearly Mended (Nearly #2)
By Devon Ashley
Release: April 7, 2014
New Adult Romantic Suspense / Dark Realistic Fiction

God help me…Zander isn’t the worst thing out there.

Megan Whitaker desperately wants to forget what the Malone brothers have done to her over the past two years – the haunting images and sensations still plaguing her thoughts and dreams – but she can’t. Charles may be dead, but Zander isn’t. I’ll find you and bring you back to me. She wants to believe she’s safe with Nick in their secluded new home, but it doesn’t keep her from looking over her shoulder, jumping over unexpected sounds, carrying a concealed weapon or even preparing for the worst.

Nick Ellis has seen a change in his long, lost love. Battered emotionally and physically, Megan spends her days at self-defense classes and researching things that’ll never allow her to let go of the past. And he feels guilty even asking her to, because he knows that heathen will return, it’s only a matter of time. And when he does, Nick will do anything to save her, even the unthinkable, risking everything he’s fought so hard to get back.

But there is no escaping the world of sex trafficking, nor the band of men who continually aid one another to keep it thriving. And as her nightmares begin to converge with reality, Megan realizes there are far worse people to fear than the one who haunts her dreams.

My Review
March 31. 2014
★★★★★★★★★★★ 10 is not enough Stars+++++
I have never suffered so many lingering effects from a book…. I literally couldn’t sleep last night and I can’t stop thinking about the book now. I really thought I loved the first one, I was shocked by the surge of emotions and feelings Nearly Broken brought on. But Nearly Mended was a whole different ballgame. Every emotion I previously suffered has tripled in the worst and best possible ways.
I will do my best to keep this review spoiler free but it is imperative that you read book #1 before even thinking of reading Nearly Mended. Be prepared to call in for a sick day because you will not even begin to function after reading this book.
There are few things that stuck with me more than anything in this book. As if Megan hasn’t suffered enough, at the end of Nearly Broken we are left mildly afraid, hesitant in the fear that Zander will reappear. However in Nearly Mended there’s not much time to enjoy freedom because the big mystery and cause of my fear, terror and sick sexual tension arrives early on. What’s scarier is this time around, Zander may not be the biggest threat out there. For someone holding on by a thread, so much pain and fear can only keep you going for so long.
Oh Nick!!! There’s so much to say about Nick. For me he is the one shining light of hope in Megan’s fucked up world. Nick never gave up on Megan, even when she lost who she was, his love never wavered and he stood strong by her side. Nick is amazingly strong and hopeful even in the ever present grim circumstance that is life. This time Nick will go one step further and rather than stand on the sidelines, he will be dragged right into the pits of Hell along with his traumatized love. My heart literally aches.
Nearly Mended was an emotional and mental journey to places my mind still refuses to accept.  I feel like I’ve been hit by a bus and thrown off a cliff. Zander and his mind games never let up. Somehow he’s always one step ahead and even with a light at your back, you’re never safe. The scariest part of the book for me is that paralyzing fear. The fear that there’s nothing you can do. Running and hiding are only futile attempts to achieve a life that will never be possible. There is literally no one you can trust, no one to turn to. All you can do is wait…. This is Megan’s life now. At least with Nick by her side she is still able to think occasional happy thoughts.
At this point I really want to applaud Devon Ashley. Not only is the writing perfection the storyline is truly astounding. Sure we’ve all read dark romance books and suffer Stockholm Syndrome along with the female main character. In Nearly Mended  the same emotions are brought to the forefront and even when you feel, and you know you will do anything you can to survive, it’s surreal to discover you’re not as disgusted or horrified as you should be by what you’re doing. It’s as if you yourself are Megan and everything she feels is your pain. You can’t help but be shocked, angered and interested in everything that’s happening. Even when your worst nightmare is coming to life, somehow there’s a small sliver of hope that you will be free. Devon Ashley did a remarkable job in keep the dirty and raw aspects of the trafficking industry alive. Chills will run through your body and the story will guide you through some very dark and mentally insane scenes but you won’t be able to turn away.
Overall I am ruined. This book has torn me into so many shreds I don’t know how any book will compare. I think the only thing keeping me sane is my suffering that not only did we have a horrible horrible cliff-hanger this time around, there’s also the fear of waiting another year to see Megan and Nick’s pain come to an end. Aside from my hatred of this and all cliff-hangers this book was so much more than I was ever expecting. Sure my emotions were knocked around last time but this time they were thrown in a blender and set to puree. Nearly Mended  has the essential NA romance but don’t think you’ll find hearts and flowers here. Think more along the lines of shock collars, remote controlled chains, unbreakable windows and a hidden cottage filled with your worst horrors. If you like your books off the charts insane and emotional with real horrific elements, then this is for you. I warn you that the graphical nature is off the charts this time around, things get even worse than you can imagine. 10+++++ Well earned {I don’t know if I can ever be Mended} Stars.
