Series: Uncovering You #1
Author: Scarlett Edwards
Release Date: March 27. 2014
Blurb ~ When I wake up in a dark, unfamiliar room, I have no idea what's waiting for me in the shadows. My imagination conjures up demons of the worst kind.
Reality is much worse:
A collar with no leash. A prison with no walls. And a life stripped of meaning.
I am presented with a vile contract and asked to sign. It outlines the terms of my servitude. The only information I have about my captor are the two small letters inked at the bottom:
J.S.
Armed with only my memories, I must do everything I can to avoid becoming ensnared in his twisted mind games. But in the end, it all comes down to one choice:
Resist and die.
Or submit, and sign my life away.

Holy CRAP….!!! That’s my first thought after finishing this short. I can’t really call it a book since it’s only took me a few hours to read it, but be WARNED do not start this late at night because you will not be able to stop until you reach the end. I feel teased by all this information and I want the next book like yesterday.
I wouldn’t say this is a cliff-hanger per se’ but with it being a serial series, there is a lot of unsolved situations. I certainly want more… NOW!!!
The story starts off a bit choppy. Only in the sense that the prologue has about three short time views, which made more sense as the story continued. From flashbacks to the present time, Lily tries to recover her memories and find out why and how she landed in insanity. When she first wakes up she is blindfolded, collared, strung (literally with thin fishing wire) to a large pillar in the middle of a humongous stone room with no recollection as to how she got there.
Slowly memories return and Lily almost wishes they didn’t. As a Yale student, Lily is determined and dedicated to her future. When an opportunity arises for a one in a lifetime internship in California, Lily can’t say no and decides to take time off of school. With the amount of money she will make, she’ll be able to take a huge chunk out of her student debt. Everything seems wonderful, her internship provides housing and the chance to work with hardened professionals doing what she loves. Until the client backs out and Lily is left stranded, jobless, homeless and with no hope for going back to school until the following year.
While trying to figure out her life the mysterious J.S. comes on the scene. Lily can’t figure out why a ruthless mogul tycoon would want to meet with her, she hopes for a job but doesn’t hold her breath. Just as I was so involved in the story it ended. Lily’s memories return and she believes she knows who her capture is. All the torture of complete darkness and not being able to eat is taking its tole, but Lily refuses to sign the elusive contract where she will essentially be someone’s slave, available to and for their every whim. Lily would rather die. But when she thinks she has it all figured out she makes a plan of her own. Sadly then it ends.

There was no bomb or questioning if someone will die, but man I want this next book. I can’t wait for more, fans of dark romance will definitely find a place for Uncovering You on their bookshelves, though cliff-hanger haters (like me) may want to wait it out. This was short but not in any way less awesome or captivating. The ending is bearable but I’m having a serious book hangover and I’m ready to beg Scarlett for more…. Oh wait, I already did!!
