"4 I Hate You –No- I Love You Stars" ✰✰✰✰

Once upon a time Sloane had hopes for a HEA. One that included her best friend and neighbor Killian. Even at 17 Sloane had Killian’s attention. When it seemed life was going to allow them to be together, Sloane’s world as she knew it imploded and was never put back again.

After a fire takes her father, Sloane is sent to live with her uncle and his horrible wife. Sloane is treated horribly and her aunt treats her worse than a drunken bum on the street corner. Sloane is forced to wear bag-like clothing far too big for her, earn a degree in a field she never wanted, attend social gatherings she could care less about not to mention she isn’t allowed to have a mind of her own. Sloane takes it all in stride knowing one day when she is old enough life will right itself again and not only will she be able to escape the hell her life has been the last four years but she’ll also gain something she hasn’t had in years, her independence.

Since the fire killed her father, Killian turned his back on Sloane. Gone were the stolen kisses and flirtatious smiles, instead all Sloane received from Killian was hatred and dismissal. Losing her life was bad enough but losing Killian left a hole in Sloane’s heart.

When she eyes Killian advancing on her at a social function, Sloane is terrified. What could he possibly want after all this time, perhaps, he wants to reinforce his hatred and make sure she understands that what they had, they will never have again.

After four years, Killian overthrows Sloane’s life, caring little about her feelings. Sloane is bought, paid for and expected to serve him. Sloane can’t deny the part of her heart that still aches for Killian even if all he sees when he looks at her is contempt.

Sometimes everything isn’t what it seems and this is something both Killian and Sloane will come to realize. Lies, deceits and treachery are just a few things they have to deal with. Sloane was a bit of an annoying character. I couldn’t believe how she would let Killian treat her as if she had no self worth. She rarely sticks up for herself when it matters. I know it’s hard to let go of your first love but Sloane just seems to accept Killian, even as anger and loathsome as he is. I enjoyed the story but couldn’t stop wanting to hurt Sloane. She wasn’t a weak character but she should have cared more about herself and not let a man walk all over her no matter how many feelings were attached.

Overall this was a crazy read and it was awesome. I loved this story though I did have issues with hating both main characters. Killian is a Grade A Jackass and Sloane is too accepting of his hatred. How can you accept someone hating you, makes no sense to me? This was a story filled with crazy drama, secrets and SEX, let’s not forget the sex. There’s lots of it and it was definitely hot. Erotica fans and fans of dark romance will certainly find a place for Consequences of Deception on their bookshelves/Kindles. Can’t wait to read more from this author.
