Blurb ~ Sarah O’Brien is alive because of the pact she and her brother made twelve years ago — James will protect her from their violent father if she promises to never leave him. For years, she’s watched James destroy his life to save hers. If all he asks for in return is her affection, she’ll give it freely.

Until, with a tiny kiss and a broken mind, he asks for more than she can give.

Sam Donavon has been James’ best friend — and the boy Sarah’s had a crush on — for as long as she can remember. As their forbidden relationship deepens, Sarah knows she’s in trouble. Quiet, serious Sam has decided he’s going to save her. Neither of them realizes James is far more unstable than her father ever was, or that he’s not about to let Sarah forget her half of the pact . . .

My Review
**Potential Spoiler Warning**

WOW!! I really loved Flawed. It was everything I thought it would be and more. My only complaint was the last couple chapters. They changed everything. I almost want to rate this book a three because of it but I can’t deny the awesomeness of the previous twenty or so chapters.
Sarah and James have a horrible home life. Their father was a famous boxer back in his day. Something he never lets them forget. In his heyday he never expected to be saddled with two kids, let alone a wife who broke the condom on purpose. Their father has nothing but hatred for them and their mother. Sarah tries to remain a shadow at home whenever her father is home. Most times her simply breathing turns his buttons and she ends up with scars, burns or bruises, unless James is home of course. Her older brother James takes many of the beatings meant for Sarah. In fact at nineteen he gives up his future to stick around until the time Sarah is old enough to graduate and they can run away together.

One night James goes to a party and brings Sarah along. Aside from finding her brother buying pills, much like the ones that leave her mother dazed 24/7 Sarah never expects James’ friend Sam to take a liking to her. Turns out Sarah’s longtime crush has not been one-sided all along. James however is more overprotective of Sarah than a mother and her new born baby. Having a boyfriend is simply inconceivable and James won’t have it. Knowing Sam even likes Sarah sends him into a rage. So in order to find happiness Sarah decides to keep her and Sam a secret. For now at least.
Most of the story revolves around Sarah and Sam growing closer. All the while Sarah and her brother are slipping away. James’ overprotective nature becomes tinged with weird when he tries to kiss her. But since they promised to always be there for each other and only love each other Sarah isn’t too concerned. Plus she has Sam, so why worry.
This was an emotional journey that is still breaking my heart. I can’t believe I’ve had this book on my kindle for so long and just dived in. I couldn’t wait to take my break at work so I could find out more about the trio. The drama is at times high and when Sarah’s father is around, there is often pain, so beware, the abuse is sometimes hard to witness.

Overall I really enjoyed this story. Sure the end did and continues to piss me off. I imagine that’s why there are so many low ratings, but I can’t overlook the rest of the story. It was truly amazing. I would certainly recommend this. Be prepared to have your heart cut open though and make sure you read this with open eyes. Sarah doesn’t know how to do anything but trust in James and truly believes he is the only one who can and does love her so it’s a struggle to allow anyone else in. Even Sam, who was easy to fall in love with. Great book

HAPPY READING!!!
