Naked (The Blackstone Affair #1)
by: Raine Miller
★★★★ 4 Stars
Blurb: Brynne Bennett is living the good life. An American art student at the University of London and part-time photographic model, she’s putting her life back on track with school and lots of hard work. When ultra successful London businessman, Ethan Blackstone, buys her nude portrait, he isn’t taking ‘no’ for an answer. He wants Brynne in his bed and makes plans to keep her there no matter what. His dominant nature captivates and ensnares despite the demons she carries inside her. But there are secrets in this relationship. Huge ones. Can Ethan free Brynne from the past that has marked her? Will Brynne let him or will the specters tormenting her resurface to destroy them both…I'm going to agree with fans in that David Gandy is Ethan Blackstone... Once I saw his picture in connection with the series, he's who I constantly saw in my mind and what a ride it's been.
Review
Naked revolves around the introduction of one Mr. Ethan
Blackstone. There’s more to the story of course but trust me he deserves a 200
page Introduction.
Who is Ethan Blackstone? He’s an arrogant, cocky, dominating
British, drool worthy man with a panty dropping smile. And he will rock your
flippin’ socks off. Let’s just say Ethan is a very sexual man and he has enough
of Brynn’s ass-prints left on his desk, from some dirty office shagging to
prove it. He is 100% Alpha male, all the time.
“I knew myself well enough to realize that Ethan Blackstone
was dangerous territory for a girl like me— Great White shark is hungry for
lone swimmer in cove— territory.”-Brynne
Aside from Mr. Blackstone, the story is actually told from
the POV of Brynne Bennett. Brynne is an American art student studying in
England whilst trying to hide away from some unknown event in her past. Even in
the end we don’t know exactly what happened and why she ran away. Even in her
POV it’s as if we get more of an inside look into Ethan than Brynne. Albeit this
only makes the entire story mysterious and urge you to continue the tale of
these two scarred lovers.
“He was, if nothing, brutally honest. He was
dominating, sure. But I liked that. It took the pressure off of
me in a sector of my life where I held little confidence. I wanted him,
I just didn't know if he would want me once he knew my whole story.”-Brynne
Ethan currently owns his own security business where he
secures the safety of many British royalty members. It is this past that aligns
him with Brynne’s father. Brynne’s
father who still lives in the states asks Ethan to look after his baby girl.
Ethan is rather hesitant with his current work revolving around securing the
Olympics, no small feat, but when he gets a peak at Brynn in a photo sent by
her father, well, let’s just say the rest is history.
Ethan immediately goes alpha male and without even having
met or been introduced to Brynne he wants her, as his. Brynne does some nude
modeling on the side and it help pays her bills while she is in school. Ethan
just so happens to show up at one of these events and from there he inserts
himself into Brynne’s life. Her past has left many scars and though Brynne is
hesitant at first and unsure of Ethan’s intentions, the two begin a whirlwind
courtship with a few secrets threatening to tear them apart.
Inevitably there comes a point where Brynn learns the truth
about Ethan’s looking out for her. Having not told her of his connection to her
father and secretly guarding her she feels betrayed and runs. Definite
cliff-hanger. I’ll admit the book definitely flew by. The pacing is very fast
but easy to follow through and when the end comes you’ll absolutely want to
have All In Part 2 nearby. This was my second time reading Naked and I was
still not disappointed. The story of Brynne and Ethan was just as wonderful the
second time around.
