5 Star Picks of the Month

MARCH 5 Star Recommends of the Month

So March is finally over. The weather is finally starting to get warmer, the snow is melting and the sun is out. Before you know it, we'll all be out sunning in the backyard, favorite book in hand.
Check out these highly recommended reads I read this month. Some of these are tear-jerkers, so have tissues handy.

*****5 Star Picks*****

Hopeless by: Colleen Hoover
GR - Amazon - BN - My Review

"I think I can easily say that Hopeless is one of my favorite books EVER!! It's an absolute recommend and Sky and Holder's story needs to be read. It does not disappoint. It has all the romance, an angsty bad boy you can't figure out and holds a shocking plot twist that will leave you wanting more and more!!!"

My Life Next Door by: Huntley Fitzpatrick
GR - Amazon - BN - My Review

"My Life Next Door literally blew me away. This has instantly become one of my favorite books of all time. You will smile, cry and laugh till your face hurts and still want more. When the action gets going near the end I thought my legs were going to fall off from the constant bounce they were stuck in. Every little thing about this book was superb. I was enraptured from the very beginning and every page since."

Falling Into You by: Jasinda Wilder
GR - Amazon - BN - My Review

"Prepare to be amazed....Let me just warn you. That blurb does nothing to prepare you for the accident that befalls Kyle and the heartache you will feel as your own. Or the awesomeness that is Falling into You. There is no preparing for it and even knowing what’s going to happen only makes it worse. But aside from all that Falling Into You is fan-freaking-tabulous and I would fall into this book and happily live forever if I could. This book deserves 12 Stars."

Fragile by: M. Leighton
GR - Amazon - BN - My Review

"Fragile is such a beautiful love story filled with pain, sorrow and determination it’s hard to believe the characters are only in high school. M. Leighton struck gold with the beauty of this story and has forever become a favorite."

Smokin Hot Pick of the Month:

Beyond Shame by: Kit Rocha
"Beyond Shame is beyond anything you’ve ever read before, trust me. If you want your sex scenes hot and steamy then look no further cause Beyond Shame is the best I’ve read yet. It was such a GREAT story and made all those other dystopian worlds weep with envy.
Imagine a world where sexuality is not frowned upon. There is no cause for concern over pregnancy or STD’s. Sex is an easily accepted act and everyone does it with whomever they want. The world Noelle finds herself is freeing, empowering and enlightening. It allows her to become the person she was meant to be and challenge all her boundaries sexual and otherwise.
"

Series of the Month:

The Chocolate Lovers Series by Tara Sivec
Seduction and Snacks #1
"The most hilarious romance EVER!!!"

HAPPY READING!!!

Opal Review

Book Review March 30

Opal (Lux #3)
by: Jennifer Armentrout

★★★★★ 5 Stars

Synopsis: No one is like Daemon Black. When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn’t fooling around. Doubting him isn’t something I’ll do again, and now that we’ve made it through the rough patches, well... There’s a lot of spontaneous combustion going on. But even he can’t protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they love.
After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different... And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable of. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.
Together we’re stronger... and they know it.

As if the first two books in the series weren’t good enough, no, Opal had to go and blow my mind. Damnit, son of a bit**…. I’m so mad it’s over. And we have to wait until the end of August. Heaven help me because I don’t know if I can go that long without Daemon.

The Baby Bargain Review

Book Review March 28th

The Baby Bargain by:

Jennifer Apodaca

★★ 2 Stars

Blurb: Seeing Adam Waters is the last thing veterinarian Megan Young expects. Ex-Marine. Ex-boyfriend. And still extremely dangerous territory. But Adam doesn’t know the secret Megan has been keeping from him. The secret that was created three years ago, after their last night together...

Adam returns to Raven’s Cove to sell his home in a final break with the town and memories that haunt him. The problem is that his attraction to Megan is as blazing hot as it ever was. But when a vicious smear campaign against Megan turns ugly, Adam learns the truth he never knew—he has a son.

Now the only way Megan can protect her child is to strike a bargain with Adam. And it’s a bargain that looks a lot like blackmail.
*ARC Provided by NetGalley for an honest Review*
Blah…. That was my response while reading and after reading The Baby Bargain. Normally, I’m a sucker for a baby story, especially when we get to see the father and child interact. Nothing mattered in this story. It’s like something you've read fifty times before and it lacked any sort of originality. I found myself staying up late to finish the book not because I wanted to but because I wanted to be done so I could move on to bigger and better things.
And what’s with the title? What is that? I mean there’s no bargaining going on here. Makes it sound like they’re buying a baby off the black market and trying to get the best deal.

Seduction and Snacks Review

Book Review March 24

Seduction & Snacks (Chocolate Lovers #1)

by: Tara Sivec

★★★★★ 5 STARS + 10 more★★★★★★★★★★stars for Awesomeness

Blurb: Claire is a twenty-something, single mom that grudgingly helps her best friend sell sex toys while she attempts to make enough money to start her own business to give her foul-mouthed, but extremely loveable (when he's asleep) toddler a better life.

When Carter, the one-night-stand from her past that changed her life forever, shows up in her hometown bar without any recollection of her besides her unique chocolate scent, Claire will make it a point that he remembers her this time.

With Carter's undisguised shock at suddenly finding out he has a four-year-old son and Claire's panic that her stretch marks and slim to none bedroom experience will send the man of her dreams heading for the hills, the pair will do whatever they can to get their happily ever after.

I almost wanna sue the author of this book for physical pain because both my stomach and face are in excruciating pain from laughing at practically every page of this book. It's like your subconscious on crack without the filter. All those negative, naughty thoughts always playing in the back of your mind that you can never say, well, these characters have no problem letting it all out. Excuse me while I use some GIF's to release some much needed laughter.

Never in my life have I laughed as hard as I did while reading Seduction and Snacks. Every single word was a joy and after spending a week recommending this to everyone I know and suffering from a sore stomach and face (from laughing so hard) I think I’ve calmed enough to write this review. Quite simply, everyone needs to read this. Wonderful is not the word. This book is beyond hilarious and Tara Sivec has a magic way with words that, though the plot may be overshadowed by all the comedy and sarcasm within the book, it all flows seamlessly together to create a masterpiece. (I’ve read straight comedy books and in my opinion they all have nothing on this book.)

“I want to reach in my pants, pull out my virginity, wrap it up and put a bow on it. Or maybe stick it in a gift bag from Target and give it to him like a nice card that says, “Thank you for being you! Just a little virginity to show my gratitude.” - Claire

One Click Buys of the Week

Here's some one-click buys I got on my Kindle this week.

Suicide Note Review

Book Review March 23

Suicide Note

by: Teresa Mummert

4 Stars ★★★★

Blurb: Sometimes in life it feels like everything that can go wrong does, but everything happens for a reason. A relationship crumbles so someone else can mend the pieces of your broken heart. A change of plans can lead you to something you didn’t even know you were missing. You help others and discover that it was you who needed to be helped all along.

Jenn’s life is nothing as she had imagined it would be. She is twenty-something with a failing career and her love life has officially ended with an ultimate act of betrayal. She is ready to throw away her dreams when a chance run-in with a soldier, dealing with his own misfortunes, alters her course and changes her perspective on life.

If possible  a well earned 4.5 Stars

(Fans have chosen Channing Tatum as a stand in for Shane. I must agree. So enjoy some eye-candy.)
Suicide Note was no fluffy piece of afternoon reading. Instead it was an in depth meaningful journey to find love with characters who have suffered both physically and emotionally. When two broken hearts meet, heal one another and learn to love again together. Did I mention it was great, amazing and un-freakin-beleivably awesome?

Thoughtless Review

Book Review March 28th

Thoughtless

by: S.C. Stephens

★★★★ 4 Stars

Synopsis: For almost two years now, Kiera's boyfriend, Denny, has been everything she's ever wanted: loving, tender and endlessly devoted to her. When they head off to a new city to start their lives together, Denny at his dream job and Kiera at a top-notch university, everything seems perfect. Then an unforeseen obligation forces the happy couple apart.

Feeling lonely, confused, and in need of comfort, Kiera turns to an unexpected source—a local rock star named Kellan Kyle. At first, he's purely a friend that she can lean on, but as her loneliness grows, so does their relationship. And then one night everything changes...and none of them will ever be the same.

**Beware Potential Spoilers Interspersed with my Ranting**

Last night when I finished this I would easily give it three stars. But it deserves both more and less. Thoughtless was like that road rage induced feeling of blinding fury  inspired when pedestrians hit the walk light and walk anyway, making you wait an immense amount of time for no one. Every moment was throttle worthy. I just wanted to strangle, maim and bury these characters. All that negativity aside it wasn’t a bad story. The characters are fucked up and often stupid as hell but I was captivated from the start as if I was wrapped and tied in barbed wire. Occasionally the anger got so bad I had to put the book down so I could cool off, but I was constantly thinking about it and needed more. Thoughtless became my crack.

FRIGID

by: Jennifer Armentrout

Blurb: For twenty-one-year-old Sydney, being in love with Kyler isn't anything new. They'd been best friends ever since he pushed her down on the playground and she made him eat a mud pie. He's never stayed with a girl longer than a few nights, and with it being their last year in college, Syd doesn't want to risk their friendship by declaring her love.

Kyler has always put Syd on a pedestal that was too high for him to reach. To him, she's perfect and she's everything. But the feelings he has for her, he's always hidden away or focused on any other female. After all, Kyler will always be the poor boy from the wrong side of tracks, and Syd will always be the one girl he can never have.

But when they're stranded together at a posh ski resort due to a massive Nor'easter, there's nothing stopping their red-hot feelings for each other from coming to the surface. Can their friendship survive the attraction? Better yet, can they survive at all? Because as the snow falls, someone is stalking them, and this ski trip may be a life-changer in more ways than one.

Falling Into You Review

Book Review March 22

Falling Into You

by: Jasinda Wilder

★★★★★ 5 Stars

Blurb: I wasn't always in love with Colton Calloway; I was in love with his younger brother, Kyle, first. Kyle was my first one true love, my first in every way.
Then, one stormy August night, he died, and the person I was died with him.

Colton didn't teach me how to live. He didn't heal the pain. He didn't make it okay. He taught me how to hurt, how to not be okay, and, eventually, how to let go.

Let me just warn you. That blurb does nothing to prepare you for the accident that befalls Kyle and the heartache you will feel as your own. There is no preparing for it and even knowing what’s going to happen only makes it worse. But aside from all that Falling Into You is fan-freaking-tabulous and I would fall into this book and happily live forever if I could.

Fragile Review

Book Review March 21st

Fragile

by: M. Leighton

5 Stars ★★★★★

Synopsis: Her heart, as delicate as glass. His love, as strong as steel. Can either survive life and death?
Hardy Bradford is an eighteen year old football phenomenon who has the girl, the school, the town and the future in the palm of his hand. His life is all mapped out for him, right down to who he’ll marry and how he’ll become a professional football player. It doesn't seem to matter that Hardy would’ve chosen a much different life if it was up to him. But it's not. At least not until his Miracle comes along.
The first time Hardy laid eyes on Miracle St. James, he didn’t know who she was, but he knew she was something different and that he’d never get her out of his head. And he didn’t. Now, months later, Hardy’s world is turned upside down when Miracle shows up in his class, stealing his heart and forever changing the course of his life.
Miracle’s sick. Very sick. And Hardy might be losing the only thing in his life that has ever mattered. How much is too much to sacrifice for the one you love? For just a little more time? For just one more chance? Can Hardy be the hero Miracle needs? Or is it Hardy that needs saving?

*Potential Spoilers*This was not the first time I read Fragile and I am sure it is not the last. Every single time this story amazes me and deserves it's own galaxy of stars. It is such a beautiful love story filled with pain, sorrow and determination it’s hard to believe the characters are only in high school. M. Leighton struck gold with the beauty of this story and has forever become a favorite.

What little illusion of love Severine has is soon destroyed. Every option is broken, and the protection she has built around her heart instantly crumbles.

Before my review I just have to release some GIF tension!!!

While reading this I kept feeling like....
And then I got annoyed...
And still I was like.....

*Beware the ranting and Potential Spoilers*

Every Which Way did not really impress me, in any way. I was mildly bored and disappointed throughout and found myself reading multiple items in between and putting off this review for far too long. The dialogue of the characters was so overthrown with sarcastic comments that barely made any sense. It became hard to understand and know the characters thus taking away from the entire book. I still don’t know who the hell they are.
