Hard to Resist Review

Book Review

Hard to Resist Feb. 14th

Sypnosis: Natalie Carmichael thought that Bryson Daniels would be her world. She planned a bright future with him, cherished four years with him, and couldn't have been any happier, but during graduation night, all of that changes.
Natalie walks in on Bryson cheating on her. One month after catching him in the act, she finally decides to make an escape by leaving for Florida.
She wants to start over, have fun, and be free while also finding a way to mend her broken heart but when she meets Nolan Young, her single-life escapade doesn't last for very long. She tries to stay clear of Nolan and his desires but it's impossible for her. Nolan will do everything that he can to have her as his own, but will Natalie accept Nolan along with the problems of his past? Will she let someone else into her heart that may be even worse than Bryson?
For Natalie, Nolan will be something completely new to her. And for them both, their desires will be completely hard to resist.

Hard to Resist by: Shanora Williams
★★★ 3 Stars

Hard to Resist was both a hit and miss for me. Much of the story felt rushed and too short to feel real and have a satisfying conclusion. Granted, there is no cliff-hanger but the End was enough to make me feel unfinished.

Sempre Sequel

J.M. Darhower Confirms Sempre Sequel in the works

Date and Title Unconfirmed

If you're like me you loved Sempre. The drama, mafia violence and romance all but sucked you in like a great movie... It was less traumatic to read than Captive in the Dark and more intense than Stolen: A Letter to My Captor. If you haven't read it; think Sopranos geared towards YA.
I am so thankful there will a sequel, though Sempre was fan-freakin-tabulous, it did leave us with a bunch of unanswered questions. Like, hello, about Celia's real identity... Slave and unknowing mafia princess (nice combo huh?), can't wait for the drama to unfold. And I really hope Corrado can get around working and killing for the mob but it was all for love.... (*Swoon*)

Fade Review

Book Review Feb. 13th

Fade (Books 1-3)

by: Kate Dawes

Blurb: Olivia Rowland leaves her Midwestern life behind after graduating from college and heads off to Los Angeles to work for a Hollywood talent agent. Life in L.A. is a culture shock, but nothing compared to the jolt she gets when Max enters her life.

Max Dalton is Hollywood's youngest and brightest movie producer/director/writer. He's wealthy, successful, hot, and there's never a shortage of women throwing themselves at him, but there's only one woman he wants, and he intends to make it happen.

As Max pursues Olivia, he finds that she presents a whole new challenge for him. When Olivia finally gives in the stage is set for a perilous, yet passionate relationship. Together they discover each other's deepest desires, and darkest secrets...

Beware Spoilers:
What a disappointment. Honestly, this book had potential but it all fell flat for me. I didn't feel challenged and reading this required having no brain at all. Even the characters are impossible to connect with. Everything was rushed and fits in with a hastily published fan-fic genre. If you're looking for a quick and easy read with sex and more sex then Fade is for you, otherwise if you're looking for something with a bit of substance, you definitely want to move along.

Limitless Review

Book Review Feb. 12th

Limitless

Limitless by: C.A. Williams

  4 Stars

Limitless (book 2) starts a few months after Chasing Leah ends. We don't immediately find out the answer to the question Chase asks Leah at the end but don't worry you won't be disappointed.
I feel like so much happened in this book.

Beware spoilers:

Poor Leah, who has gone through so much, is once again tested physically, mentally and emotionally in Limitless. She's in an accident, loses a baby, almost gets murdered and comes way too close to ruining her HEA with Chase.

Chasing Leah Review

Book Review

Chasing Leah Feb. 11th

Chasing Leah by: C.A. Williams

  4 Stars

Blurb: Leah Rossi hasn't had an easy upbringing and is looking to start fresh when she leaves for college. Being abandoned by her mom and ignored by her grandma, shes basically on her own dealing with life's everyday struggles and added into the mix is a three year old. But as soon as she locks eyes with a tattooed up bad boy looking Chase O'Neil, shes hooked and has no where to run while she fights the overgrowing attraction that ignites between them.

Chasing Leah was a exceptional novel about a college freshman, Leah, who has more responsibility than most and struggles dealing with life, caring for her young brother and falling in love for the first time.

XVI Review

Book Review Feb. 10th

XVI

XVI by: Julia Karr

4 Stars

Blurb: Some girls can't wait to be sixteen, to be legal. Nina is not one of them. Even though she has no choice in the matter, she knows that so long as her life continues as normal, everything will be okay.

Then, with one brutal strike, Nina's normal is shattered; and she discovers that nothing that she believed about her life is true. But there's one boy who can help--and he just may hold the key to her past.
But with the line between attraction and danger as thin as a whisper, one thing is for sure...

I absolutely loved XVI. Normally not a fan of the dystopian world, I thought this imagining of the future was rather fitting considering the way of our current society. If your normally a dystopian fan then XVI should be right up your alley. There's love, mystery, murder and of course secrets waiting to be uncovered.
